In Defense of Thursdays
Over months and years of working I believe I've found the sweet spot of all the days of the week. It's not the beginning or an end, but somewhere firmly in-progress, with the end in site. There's enough accumulated inertia to flow, and still time to shape a clear list of tasks and to-dos for the rest of the week. My thought density and output seem to peak on day four.
Thursdays sneak up on me. I never plan on them being my best day to think, work, reflect, or plan. And then all of the sudden it's Thursday and I'm hurtling through well specified and connected work. And there's still one more day to finish even more.
Breadth and depth both hit their peak late in the week. There’s a bit of extra capacity for pursuits outside of work, too. That mix helps stave off tedium as the week wears on.
On Thursday the end is near but not quite here. There's still some extra room to wind down and maybe begin something new.
Thor's-day has it's thunder. Hoping yours is smashing.
